The IHI Open School offers a basic certificate of completion for users who want formal recognition for their participation. Earning a certificate boosts your own skills — and proves to employers that you’re serious about changing the system for the better. 

To receive a basic certificate, you must complete the following online courses:

· Quality Improvement 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106

· Patient Safety 100, 101, 102, 103

· Leadership 101

Visit our courses site and get started.

Once you finish the required courses, we’ll be notified automatically and will mail your certificate to the physical address you provided when you registered on IHI.org.  (Need to change your address?  Log in and click on “My IHI” to edit your profile.)  You can expect to receive your certificate in the mail within two weeks of completing the courses.  Please allow additional time if you live outside the United States.

The requirements for the basic certificate will grow over time, but you’ll only need to complete the requirements listed at the time you earn the certificate.

Finally, we’re planning to develop an advanced certificate of completion for users who want to take their skills to the next level.  Stay tuned!

Continuing Education Credits

IHI plans to offer continuing education credits for completion of the IHI Open School courses in the near future. Continuing education information will be posted on our website as it becomes available.
