The application for the Improvement Advisor program consists of two documents: the Improvement Advisor Application and the Improvement Advisor Knowledge and Self-Assessment Form. Please refer to the glossary of terms to complete the self-assessment.


Please note: applications will be accepted on a rolling admission until the program fills. We will be accepting applications starting immediately and due to limited space, we encourage you to complete your application as soon as possible to guarantee a spot in the program. Applications will not be accepted after June 30, 2009. Upon completion of your application, the faculty will perform a review and then notify you of your enrollment status.

The fee to join the nine-month Improvement Advisor program is $16,000 per participant.

(Members of IHI’s IMPACT network receive a special rate of $13,500 per participant.)

This fee includes:

  • Twelve days of on-site workshops for the participant
  • All program materials, tools, and literature 
  • Continental breakfasts and lunches for the twelve workshop days
  • Monthly conference calls and coaching
  • An Extranet site and listserv to connect an active community of colleagues whose continued collaboration IHI will facilitate 
 Enrollment Process

Due to the intensity of this program and work on real improvement projects for the client organizations, we must limit the class size. 


We will be accepting applications starting immediately and due to limited space, we encourage you to complete your application as soon as possible to guarantee a spot in the program. Applications will not be accepted after June 30, 2009. Upon completion of your application, the faculty will perform a review and then notify you of your enrollment status. applications will be accepted on a rolling admission. If your application is accepted, you will receive a prework packet to begin preparing for the first in-person meeting.

Members of IHI’s IMPACT network are eligible to receive a 15% discount.


Group Enrollment Discount
Organizations sending 3 or more are eligible to receive a 15% discount.


Special Discount
Employees of independent, federally qualified health centers not affiliated with a hospital or health system, independent practices with fewer than 20 physicians, and hospitals with fewer than 50 beds are eligible to receive a discounted enrollment rate. If you are interested in applying for this rate, please complete an application and submit it via email to info@ihi.org.

 Cancellations and Substitutions
Cancellation Policy
You will receive a full refund of your enrollment fee if:
  • You cancel your enrollment at least one month prior to the program start date; or
  • You send a substitute attendee to attend the program in your place.


If a substitute is not found, you are responsible for the full enrollment fee and regretfully we are unable to refund your participant fee.


Unconditional Guarantee
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied that this program is a valuable experience, IHI will gladly refund your enrollment fee within 30 days of the program end date. Please note that due to unforeseeable circumstances, last-minute changes in program titles, speakers, or presentations may be unavoidable.
