United Nations Millennium Development Goals

The United Nations Millennium Development Goals serve to end poverty by tackling issues such as HIV/AIDs, maternal and child health, gender equality, and hunger. The website provides an overview of the interventions and targets countries around the world are striving to meet in order to reach these goals by 2015.

WHO Health System Strengthening

WHO Health System Strengthening (HSS) addresses the importance of strengthening health systems in order to spread high-quality health care across the board. The website provides publications, reports, and frameworks for HSS, in which quality improvement plays a vital part.

Lessons Learnt About Quality Improvement in Developing Nations: Presentations from the International Forum 2009

These presentations from the 2009 International Forum Workshop "Lessons learnt about quality improvement from projects in developing nations" provide insight into the adaptation of quality improvement methods to resource to poor communities. Under the sponsorship of The Rockefeller Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, 28 participants from 15 countries met from October 13-16, 2008, at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center in Bellagio, Italy. They convened to explore the following topic: Definition, Assessment, Assurance, and Improvement of the Quality of Health Care in Developing Countries. Co-chairs of the meeting were Donald M. Obtaining complete and accurate data from clinical sites presents a major challenge for tracking the progress of South Africa's efforts to prevent mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. This paper assesses the completeness and accuracy of routine PMTCT data submitted to the district health information system in three districts of KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa.
