This report by The Health Foundation Consortium describes exchange visits between quality improvement teams in Malawi that are working to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. The purpose of exchange visits is to:

• promote sharing and testing of ideas between team; and
• provide the hosting team with suggestions for new ideas to test based on the observations of visitors.
