The patient education and instruction sheet is given to the patient once a positive culture for methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus
(MRSA) has been identified. The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) is responsible for giving this to the RN caring for the patient or the ICP communicates directly with the patient. This informational sheet is provided at the same time the MD progress note is placed in the patient's chart. This sheet is also being given to patients discharged from the emergency department with previous or known history of MRSA.
Directions
Provide informational sheet to the patient once a positive MRSA culture has been identified.
